Below you will find lab protocols, PowerPoint files, and teacher notes that we have developed to accompany the introductory material (science literacy reading assignments) presented under the 'Students' section of this web page. All student literacy readings are also available for you to download. The readings and PowerPoints make ties to Dr. Hood's research, which we hope will help your students to see the connections between what they are doing in your classroom and the work of scientists at a nearby university. We have included a link to a YouTube video for each of the PowerPoints. The videos go over the material and describe the use of these labs in the classroom. Also, we provide you with all of the material in an editable format to facilitate modification to the unique needs of your classroom and students. The National Scientific and Engineering Practices and Alabama Course of Study Standards met by each lab are given in the Notes for Teachers, in addition to lists of supplies and suggestions for successfully completing the labs.
